What are you grateful for? Here at Hemp Learning Channel, we’re grateful for all the things that bring about good health and wellness, especially CBD!
CBD, or cannabidiol, is a hemp-derived compound that has gained significant mainstream appeal following its federal legalization. It is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid, meaning it does not produce the “high” typically associated with cannabis consumption.
We’re thankful for CBD because it helps boost wellness! Join us as we explore five reasons to be grateful for CBD!
One: CBD may relieve pain and inflammation
Researchers believe that CBD acts as both an analgesic and anti-inflammatory by attaching to the CB2 receptors in the brain. These endocannabinoid receptors regulate immune and inflammatory responses; when stimulated by phytocannabinoids like CBD, pro-inflammatory biomarkers are reduced.
An ever-growing number of studies confirm CBD’s effectiveness in combatting pain and inflammation.
For example, this study focusing on osteoarthritic symptoms determined CBD to be effective in mitigating severe knee pain associated with the condition. A similar study also found that the topical application of CBD gel alleviated joint swelling and significantly reduced pro-inflammatory biomarkers.
Additionally, a review of pharmacological research on CBD concluded that the cannabinoid relieves the chronic pain that accompanies a range of chronic illnesses. This review concludes similarly: CBD acts as an anti-inflammatory agent by triggering CB2 receptors and subsequently decreasing levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines, inhibiting inflammatory cell proliferation, curtailing migration and adhesion of immune cells, and reducing oxidative stress.
Two: CBD might boost your sleep routine
In a technology-driven world filled with known sleep disruptors like blue light and excessive screen time, sleep problems are on the rise. It is estimated that an unfortunate 50 to 70 million Americans suffer from sleep disorders, and that population only continues to increase.
CBD promotes better sleep by targeting a region of the brain called the hypothalamus, which regulates circadian rhythms. By acting on the endocannabinoid receptors here, CBD helps the body progress through sleep cycles without interruption. It ensures that deep restful states are achieved.
This study found that CBD lessens the frequency of sleep disturbances while improving overall sleep quality. Another study similarly concluded that regular CBD use increases sleep scores and decreases anxiety scores in participants diagnosed with sleep and anxiety disorders.
Three: CBD products are versatile and easy to use
CBD comes in many shapes and sizes. As the cannabinoid increases in demand, manufacturers continue to craft a wide variety of useful, accessible products that target specific health concerns.
Some of the most popular types of CBD products include topicals, edibles, and tinctures. Click here to learn more about the differences between the three.
Topical CBD products are applied directly to the skin to treat surface issues and muscle, joint, and bone problems alike. They come in the form of face masks, salves, and lip balms, amongst plenty of other products. Some of our favorites include this nifty Everyday Skin Repair Stick and this Muscle and Joint Rub Roll-On from Bee’s Knees Wellness!
If you prefer to eat your CBD, edibles are likely your go-to. From gummies to cookies, edibles make your daily CBD routine a treat. In addition, the acute effects of edibles are potent and may last longer.
Tinctures are perhaps the most versatile of CBD products. You can consume them directly, dropped into your mouth or rubbed into the skin; or, you can add them to foods or topical products of your choice.
Four: CBD is sustainable and eco-friendly
CBD is sourced from the hemp plant, which is highly sustainable and environmentally friendly. In fact, hemp is naturally biodegradable and returns significant amounts of nutrients to the soil in which it grows.
Hemp offers a sustainable alternative to unsustainable materials such as plastic, fuel, wood, and cotton. Amazingly, there are over 25,000 documented uses for hemp!
Every part of the hemp plant can be utilized in some way: from seeds and stalks to flowers, leaves, and roots, no part of the plant goes to waste. Additionally, hemp requires very little space to grow, needs only small quantities of water to flourish, grows in nearly all types of soil, and combats deforestation.
Because federally legal CBD is always sourced from hemp, you can feel comfortable knowing your CBD products are sustainably sourced and helpful to both yourself and the environment.
Five: CBD may even help your pets
CBD doesn’t just benefit human beings: it may help your pets, too! Like humans, mammals like cats and dogs possess endocannabinoid systems (ECS) that both process and produce cannabinoids. Without an ECS, your furry four-legged friends would not be able to benefit from CBD consumption.
Veterinary research indicates that CBD is not only safe for most pets – it also serves as an effective treatment for a number of ailments. CBD has been shown to treat symptoms like nausea and aggression in pets, as well as debilitating conditions like kidney disease, epilepsy, and cancer. Tinctures are one easy way to administer CBD to your pet. This Pet Boost Botanical Tincture from Bee’s Knees Wellness is formulated using non-toxic ingredients that pets love!
For oral ingestion, use the dropper or pipette to drop the desired dosage into your pet’s mouth directly, or add it to your pet’s food or water dish to help treat your pet throughout the day. If you wish to target skin, joint, or muscular issues, apply the tincture to problem areas topically, gently massaging the liquid into the skin.
We can’t help but be grateful for CBD every day. Its health benefits offer enough to appreciate about this potent cannabinoid, but adding sustainability and versatility to the list strengthens our love even more.
